V.       The Tabernacle of God

I.         The ark of the covenant [vv1-9]
6 And he made a mercy seat of pure gold.

Ps 99:1 The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!

So this was all part of the rich symbolism of the ark of the covenant --- God’s provision with the manna, God’s rule with the staff, God’s Word with the stone tablets, God’s power and presence with the cherubim, and God’s forgiveness through a blood sacrifice.

II.        The table of bread [vv10-16]
In the table of bread, God would remind His people not only of His provision but also of His presence and companionship.

III.      The lampstand of gold [vv17-24]
1 Jn 1:5 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

IV.       The altar of incense [vv25-29]
Ex 30:6 And you shall put it in front of the veil that is above the ark of the testimony, in front of the mercy seat that is above the testimony, where I will meet with you.

Lev 16:18 “the altar that is before the LORD.”

Ps 141:1-2 O Lord, I call upon you; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to you! Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!

Lk 1:8-11 8 Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. 10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense. 11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.”

Rev 5:8 And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

1 Pet 5:7 Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.

V.        The Tabernacle of God
The old covenant tabernacle and practices were only a shadow not the substance, only a copy not the real thing. It’s only in Jesus that we find the true and better. And it’s only in Jesus that we have the true Tabernacle of God.
