Christian, Press On! You Must and You are Able to Grow
·       v.12-13 -- 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
·       What you devote yourself to reveals what you are depending on

o   Acts 2:42 -- 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
o   Acts 6:4 -- 4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
o   1 Tim 4:13 -- 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching

Christian, Do Not Be Afraid to Be Different
·       v.14-15 -- 14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

·       The Great Danger of Worldliness

o   Rom 12:2 -- 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
o   1 John 2:15 -- 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
o   2 Tim 4:10 -- 10 For Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica.

Christian, Making Disciples is Worth Spending Yourself Greatly For
·       v.16-18 -- 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. 17 Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
