 The Key to Growing in Godliness: The Mind

  • v.8 -- 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

  • Romans 12:2a -- 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind

  • Challies – What makes holy people holy? What makes unholy people unholy? To a large degree it is what fills their minds and their hearts.

Godliness Also Demands This: Actual Practice

  • v.9a -- 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things…

  • James 1:22 -- 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

    • v.25 -- 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

The Only Place True Joy is Found
