Micah 3:9-12
9 Hear this, you heads of the house of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel, who detest justice and make crooked all that is straight, 10 who build Zion with blood and Jerusalem with iniquity. 11 Its heads give judgment for a bribe; its priests teach for a price; its prophets practice divination for money; yet they lean on the LORD and say, “Is not the LORD in the midst of us? No disaster shall come upon us.” 12 Therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed as a field; Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the house a wooded height.

Jer 7:4 Do not trust in these deceptive words: “This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD.”

John Calvin: “The truest means of remedying and checking this evil inclination that lies within us is to show charity towards our neighbors.”
If God has been gracious and generous to us, how now should we live? How can we be more generous with our time, our talents, and our treasures.
11 yet they lean on the LORD and say, “Is not the LORD in the midst of us? No disaster shall come upon us.”
Ps 46:7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
What they declared with their lips they would denounce with their lives. And we must all be careful ourselves, for it is very easy to praise God’s grace with our lips while also presuming His grace in our lives.
Rom 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?
Rom 6:7 For one who has died has been set free from sin.
Let us not presume upon God’s grace but practice godly living because of His grace.
12 Therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed as a field; Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the house a wooded height.
God does not have to be provoked or pushed to love and mercy, but He does have to be provoked to anger and wrath.
Jn 2:19 Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Jn 2:21 But [Jesus] was speaking about the temple of his body.
Let us pursue Christ and a holy life. Let us daily repent of sin and renew our faith and obedience. And let us not presume upon God’s grace but practice godly living because of His grace.
